Ceramic invisible braces in Cheshire at Dr Dev Orthodontics

What are ceramic (invisible) braces?

Ceramic braces are a fixed orthodontic treatment that work in a similar way to traditional metal braces, using discreet brackets and archwires to guide your teeth into their ideal position over time.

The key difference is in their appearance. Ceramic brackets are tooth-coloured or clear, allowing them to blend more naturally with your smile. For patients exploring invisible braces in Cheshire, ceramic braces offer a more subtle, low-visibility option while maintaining the precision and control of a fixed appliance.

At Dr Dev Orthodontics, ceramic braces are carefully planned and adjusted by a Specialist Orthodontist, ensuring each stage of treatment is delivered with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.

What to expect with ceramic braces treatment

Your treatment begins with a detailed orthodontic consultation at our Cheshire clinic, where Dr Devesh Shelat will assess your teeth, bite, and overall oral health. This allows us to determine whether ceramic braces are the most appropriate option for your needs, particularly if you are considering a more discreet or “invisible braces” approach.

Once your ceramic braces are fitted, you’ll attend regular review and adjustment appointments. These are carefully planned to ensure your teeth move in a controlled and precise way, with each stage of treatment monitored by a Specialist Orthodontist.

Treatment time typically ranges from 6 to 24 months, depending on the complexity of your case. After your braces are removed, retainers will be provided to help maintain your results and protect the long-term outcome of your treatment.

The ceramic braces treatment journey at Dr Dev Orthodontics in Cheshire

What ceramic braces cost in Cheshire

A full dual-arch course of ceramic braces at Dr Dev Orthodontics starts from £4,595. Your exact fee depends on what your treatment involves and is confirmed at your consultation – and once it is agreed in writing, it does not change while you are in the chair.

It includes your brackets and wires, every routine adjustment appointment while you are in treatment, your retainers, and 18 months of follow-up once your braces come off. Everyone needs a retainer – it is what stops your teeth drifting back – so it is included in the price rather than charged as an extra. A replacement, if you ever need one, is £170.

Ceramic sits between metal and lingual on price, and what you are paying for is how visible the braces are. Metal fixed braces are £3,550 for a dual arch and work identically; lingual braces, fitted behind the teeth, are £7,995. If discretion matters to you but £4,595 does not fit, Dr Dev will tell you plainly what you would be giving up by choosing metal instead.

You can spread any of these over up to 12 months, interest-free, directly with the practice.

Are ceramic braces the right choice for you?

Ceramic braces do everything metal braces do. They are the same fixed system, planned and adjusted the same way, and they handle the same range of cases – including crowding, spacing and bite problems that clear aligners control less predictably. The difference is that you can barely see them.

Ceramic tends to suit you if you want the reliability of a fixed appliance but would rather it were not the first thing people notice, and you would rather not depend on remembering to wear something. Fixed braces work whether or not you think about them.

There are two honest trade-offs. Ceramic brackets are more brittle than metal and can chip if you are heavy-handed with hard food. And the elastic ties that hold the wire in place can pick up colour from things like curry, coffee and red wine between appointments. The ties are replaced at every adjustment, so any staining is temporary – but it is worth knowing before you choose rather than after.

Clear aligners may be the better answer if being able to take the appliance out matters more to you than not having to think about it. That is a genuine trade-off rather than one option being better, and it is the conversation to have at your consultation.

How treatment works, start to finish

  • Consultation. A free virtual consultation, or an in-person appointment for £95, with Dr Dev himself. You will find out whether ceramic braces suit your case, roughly how long it would take, and what it would cost.
  • Records and planning. If you decide to go ahead, we take digital scans, photographs and x-rays, and Dr Dev plans the movement himself before anything is fitted.
  • Fitting. The brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth and connected with an archwire. It takes a single appointment and it is not painful.
  • Adjustments. You are seen regularly so the wire can be adjusted and progress checked against the plan. Your elastic ties are changed each time, which is also what keeps them looking clean.
  • Removal and retention. The braces come off, you are fitted with a retainer, and you are followed up for 18 months. This is the part people underestimate, and it is the reason teeth relapse years later.
